1 Kings 17:1 NIV
[1] Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.”
Here is the introduction to an amazing Old Testament character – Elijah the prophet who stood against the powers of the day but whose strength came from a relationship with God. We recently looked at the prayer Jesus taught us – in Elijah we see a man who listened to God and from that relationship saw extraordinary things. Elijah’s ministry starts with “As the Lord, the God of Israel lives….” – a bit like “Our Father in Heaven” – it is the acknowledgement of God in our lives that makes the difference!
Our Father, who lives, and whom we serve…….
