Psalm 121:3-4 (NIVUK)
3 He will not let your foot slip –
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
Walking up Slieve Donard, the highest point in Northern Ireland, this weekend, the cloud cover came down, as did the rain and howling wind. It was wonderfully savage – as a mountain top should be. The path was often slippy, and I was often at risk of being blown over. Not surprisingly, these verses came to mind. In my experience, God does not take difficult paths away from us, instead he watches over us as we walk them, giving us the support to navigate them.
Look back over difficult journeys in your life, how has God been with you? Prayerfully respond.
Are you struggling with the road right now? Call out for God’s assistance. Do you know someone else who is? Pray that God would gift them with surefootedness.
