Bible Notes

Psalm 121:7-8 (12.10.23)

Psalm 121:7-8 (NIVUK)
7 The Lord will keep you from all harm –
he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and for evermore.

The peak of a mountain can be the perfect place to watch over the world below – from the top of the peak we climbed, we were told we could see the Isle of Man on a clear day. Sadly, as you can see from the photos, we could barely see 10 metres because of the weather! This could be useful for defence – from a high spot you can see your enemies coming with plenty of time to prepare for them – and for protection – you can see what’s going on so you can respond to the needs of those you’re caring for. Psalm 121 ends with a similar picture of God. He is above the mountains, above all things, and therefore he cannot be taken by surprise and is always able to see the needs of his people and respond to them.

Thank you Father for your constant care of us.
