Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Proverbs 17:17; 27:9 & Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (06.02.24)

This week we’re going to be reflecting on the ‘the web of life’ as explored on Sunday morning.

A = Appreciate and enjoy the web of life and relationships we’ve been born into.

Proverbs 17:17 (NIVUK)
17 A friend loves at all times,
and a brother is born for a time of adversity.

Proverbs 27:9 (NIVUK)
9 Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart,
and the pleasantness of a friend
springs from their heartfelt advice.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NIVUK)
9 Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labour:
10 if either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.

Again and again the Bible extols the virtues of, and encourages us to invest in, good friendships. This life has much to offer us, but good friendships and relationships trump everything else – and the amazing thing is that Jesus calls us his disciples ‘friends’. Think about the friendships you have, what you appreciate about them, and take a moment to give thanks.

Dear Lord, thank you for the friends you’ve given me, for…
Most of all, thank you for your friendship!
