Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Hebrews 7:26-28 (19.04.24)

Hebrews 7:26-28 (NIVUK)
26 Such a high priest truly meets our need ā€“ one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. 27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. 28 For the law appoints as high priests men in all their weakness; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect for ever.

Yesterday we reflected upon Jesus’ intercession for us, using the metaphor of it being like a warranty that in that he continues to pray for us today. This continued intercession does not take away from the sufficiency of his sacrifice on the Cross; this was complete in itself and opened the way for us into a relationship with the Father and a place in his Kingdom. His intercession is for us as we live out this salvation he has achieved for us.

Thank you Jesus that you are on our side. Help us to live out our lives in a manner worthy of the life you have called us into.
