2 Chronicles 2:5-6 (NIVUK)
5 ‘The temple I am going to build will be great, because our God is greater than all other gods. 6 But who is able to build a temple for him, since the heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain him? Who then am I to build a temple for him, except as a place to burn sacrifices before him?

Wisdom, begins with recognising our position before God just as Solomon did. God cannot be contained by a temple, or a church, or a denomination or a theology. She is bigger than the earth and greater than space. Even time cannot contain him. Google cannot fully index him and art cannot fully capture her, and our language (and definitions of gender) cannot grasp them. We cannot control, command or conjure up God, and certainly can’t claim to adequately describe or define him – all we can do is share our stories, be humble and point to Jesus.

Lord, I acknowledge that in every way before you I am, and we are, inadequate, and yet you love us! What response can there be but to worship you with our praise and lives – we have nothing else.
