2 Chronicles 3:4-7 (NIVUK)
…He overlaid the inside with pure gold. 5 He panelled the main hall with juniper and covered it with fine gold and decorated it with palm tree and chain designs. 6 He adorned the temple with precious stones. And the gold he used was gold of Parvaim. 7 He overlaid the ceiling beams, door-frames, walls and doors of the temple with gold, and he carved cherubim on the walls.
Searching for more information about this detail throws up a lot of speculation, but the name Parvaim is intriguing. This is the only place in the Bible that it is mentioned, and the speculation is that this is the name of a place or area outside Israel, as to where, there is no certainty. There is also speculation that it is reddish in colour. Whatever the truth, the point is being made that Solomon made every effort to ensure that the Temple was just right and a fitting place for God.
Father, forgive us for the times when we make do with giving you second best in our gatherings and daily lives.
