Micah 5:4 (NIVUK)
4 He will stand and shepherd his flock
in the strength of the Lord,
in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God.
And they will live securely, for then his greatness
will reach to the ends of the earth.
In chapter five, as Micah looks to the coming of Jesus, he compresses together Jesus’ birth, life, and return – in the same breath almost he talks of his birth and the security he will achieve as if it happens simultaneously. Perhaps he talks this way because he sees the ultimate outcome as inevitable because of who Jesus is. Does this speaks to how we live? What would it look like if we lived our lives today in the certain knowledge of Jesus’ return with all that this leads to?
Thank you Jesus for the hope we can have in the present because of who you are!
