Wednesday 19th June
Reading: Psalm 124:1-5
1 If the Lord had not been on our side—
let Israel say—
2 if the Lord had not been on our side
when people attacked us,
3 they would have swallowed us alive
when their anger flared against us;
4 the flood would have engulfed us,
the torrent would have swept over us,
5 the raging waters
would have swept us away.
Thought for Reflection:
Sometimes it is a good thing to stop and take stock – as the old chorus says “count your blessings name them one by one” – and here the pilgrim imagines life without God and finds it a scary prospect! Think about what God has done in the past and then face the present and future with confidence!
Prayer:
Lord, help us to appreciate what you have done and to see you at work today.
