Bible Notes

Bible Reading: Mt. 5:4
4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Thought for Reflection:
As a family, this couldn’t be a more timely verse with Sheila’s funeral on Friday. We are not alone in our mourning. Becoming one of us Jesus entered a world and existence of pain and loss; taking on our frailty. Through the Cross the Father learnt the anguish of bereavement and the Son the sharpness of death. They stand with us, understanding fully what we experience. God, however, does not merely appreciate, but acts. Through the resurrection he has defeated death and opened the way to eternal life and the coming kingdom where all will be put right. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’ Rev. 21:4

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, may we find in our sorrow your true comfort.
