Advent week one – Light in the darkness
Genesis 1:1-5 NIV
[1] In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. [2] Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. [3] And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. [4] God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.
This week we enter the season of Advent – the time of preparation as we look forward to the celebration of Jesus’ birth. The bible starts with light being created by God and it was good – today we may feel we live in a dark world, or we may feel in a dark place ourselves but look on…..God the creator and giver of light, the light of the world is coming!
Lord, help us to look to you over the next weeks so that your light shines into our hearts.
