Ephesians 4:1-3
As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
Here Paul shares what he came to understand whilst a prisoner in a Roman jail. No matter how difficult our circumstances, we should hold fast to faith, be Christ-like: patient, tolerant and respectful towards others, not using our hardships as an excuse to behave otherwise and to stick together. His sentiments echo the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:9: “Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called the children of God” (King James).
Lord make me an instrument of your peace and I pray that those with whom I speak today will feel blessed, respected and uplifted afterwards.
