Esther 4:14 (NIV)
14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
Last night at the midweek Bible Study we read Esther and shared our responses. It made a wonderful change to read the whole of a book out loud like this and hear it come alive. I recommend it. Its the story of how the faith and bravery of two people, Esther and her uncle Mordecai, saved the Jews in Persia from threatened annihilation. Although God is never mentioned, his presence permeates its pages, the implication being that he has brought them to the position that they are in so that he can save his people through them. Got me thinking about our lives today – no one else is in the position we are in. Are we willing to allow God to use us to fulfil his will in the situations we find ourselves in?
Father, for what have you brought me to this place and time to do for you today?
