Matthew 6:33-34 NIV
[33] But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. [34] Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Priorities – what matters most to us? I struggle with (as someone said) the urgent squeezing out the important and the cares of the day blinding me to the call of eternity. Here we have a simple promise – first seek God’s kingdom and let God look after the worries about the rest of life – he is our Father and loves us beyond imagining!
Lord, open my eyes to see you more clearly, love you more dearly and follow you more nearly (adapted from the Prayer of St Richard of Chichester).
