Luke 23:33-34 NIV
[33] When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. [34] Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.
There was no greater injustice – a good man who had shown amazing love, wonderful compassion and extraordinary power to heal and to do good, condemned to a criminal’s shameful death despite even Pilate and Herod finding no fault in him.
Could he not have escaped?
From heaven you came helpless babe
enter’d our world Your Glory veil’d
Not to be served but to serve
And give Your life that we might live
