Matthew 16:15-17 NIV
“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” [16] Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” [17] Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.
Yesterday’s question – who do those around us say Jesus is – is crucial to our mission, but of even more importance to us as individuals is this question – who do I think Jesus is? Peter’s answer is the one I came to through my experiences of the church, my exploration of science and reading of the Bible. Jesus is God’s Son, sent as promised in the Old Testament to put the world that God loves right again. That’s my conclusion – what’s yours?
Father, help me to hear what Jesus says, see what he does, and discover for myself who he is.
