Matthew 22:9-10 NIV
[9] So go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’ [10] So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.
Jesus often uses the image of a banquet to describe God’s Kingdom, with God throwing open his doors to all, the expected and unexpected – how wonderful to be invited to his party! As well as being the recipients of his invitation, we can also read these parables from the point of those taking out the invitations – here we are sent into the street to invite anyone and everyone we can find.
Father, help us to become exuberant in our invitation giving, inviting any and all to be part of life with you!
