Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

James 2:14-17 (19.11.19)

James 2:14-17 NIV
What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? [15] Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. [16] If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? [17] In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating. So it is with faith too. Isaiah’s description of worship being more than singing songs and saying prayers is picked up by James in the New Testament. Our faith, he says, is about more than just words, our faith is proved by how we live.

Lord, I want a faith that is real and that makes a difference. Help me to have a living faith, not just a set of beliefs.
