1 Peter 2:11-12 NIV
Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. [12] Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
Peter describes God’s People today as ‘foreigners and exiles’ – although we may not be living in a foreign country, we belong to another Kingdom, God’s Kingdom, with different values and allegiances to those around us. This means that there will be times when we feel out of sync with others in our communities and families, and they may see us that way too.
Father, help us to stay loyal during those moments when we feel different and resist the desire to fit in.
