Genesis 2:15-17 NIV
The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. [16] And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; [17] but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”
In the next chapter the serpent focuses on God’s prohibition, but when that is given it is in the context of his overwhelming goodness and generosity – this whole garden is yours to enjoy and eat from, except this one tree. I fear sometimes we are a little like the serpent, sadly as the church we often major on the prohibitions, those things God calls us not to do, and fail to highlight all the many exciting, good things he gives us to experience and enjoy.
Take some time to think about what God has given you and us. Give thanks and pray about how you can share them with others.
