Matthew 9:35-38 NIV
[35] Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. [36] When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. [37] Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. [38] Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
As the world is gripped with fear over the Coronavirus, where do we look for help? Sensible precautions, of course but as those who have come to know and love the Lord Jesus we have a different source of security and hope. Jesus has compassion on the crowds because they had so many worries and no direction and he longs for people to bring good news, to reach out with Gods love and compassion. Can we point to him today as the one who is Good News….for everyone?
Lord Jesus, let us go for you into your harvest field to bring hope and relief to the harassed and helpless.
