Psalm 91:7-8 NIV
A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. [8] You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.
Here comes the tricky bit of reading this psalm in the context of current events. It is not wise to read this psalm and say the virus is God’s punishment and we will be ok – that is to do all sorts of violence to the text! But what it does talk about is being caught up in the midst of turmoil, being a Christian does not make us immune to trouble. But behind these words is the sense that all will ultimately be well because God is God and he is bigger than any bug!
Almighty Father, in these days of trouble, we place our trust in you. Help us to see you in the events of today.
