1 John 3:1-2 NIV
[1] See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. [2] Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
Knowing who you are makes a huge difference to how we live – doesn’t everyone love the story of Cinderella being transformed from an unhappy kitchen slave to a princess because of the love of a prince? When we have Jesus as our Saviour, we become children of God with all the blessing, privileges, and hope for the future that goes with that amazing position. There are also great responsibilities as well (ask Prince Harry!!!) but the coming of Jesus will make it all worthwhile for we shall meet him face to face and, amazingly, we shall be like him with a family likeness – how extraordinary is that???
When Christ shall come,
With shouts of acclamation,
And take me home,
What joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow
In humble adoration
And there proclaim,
“My God, how great Thou art!”
