Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

John 20:28-29 (22.04.20)

John 20:28-29 NIV
Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” [29] Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Despite his nickname, Thomas is the first in the Bible to explicitly call Jesus, God. More than that, he called him my Lord, my God. You are God and I want a relationship with you, I place myself in allegiance to you. This of course is what it means to be a disciple, a follower of Jesus. It is more than saying I believe that you are God, it is saying I believe and I follow.

Spirit, help me to see what it means for me to follow Jesus today.
