This week we’re continuing to reflect on the scripture behind the topics explored on Sunday morning.
Psalm 24:1-2 NIV
The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;
[2] for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.
Edith read this Psalm at our prayer meeting on Monday (it’s been great to see so many people joining us for this during lockdown!) As she read through the Psalm, I was struck by the opening verse and how it speaks into the three big issues of our day: the climate, equality and the pandemic. This is God’s world and so when trouble comes, we rightly turn to him in prayer for help. The earth is God’s, and so how we treat it matters. Those who live in it are God’s and therefore, how we treat each other matters.
Father, teach me to love this planet and it’s people as you do. May my care be my worship.
