Hebrews 4.14-16
[14] Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. [15] For we do not have a high priest who is unable to feel sympathy for our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet he did not sin. [16] Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
We Christians are all aware of our weaknesses, even if we don’t like to admit them. We are all tempted, and sometimes we succumb – we do things we shouldn’t, or fail to do things we should, we say things we regret afterwards, we think thoughts that we wouldn’t even share with our nearest and dearest. Jesus has walked the human pathway, and he knows what we experience, and how we need his strength and power to live victorious through his abundant grace. We just have to ask and receive!
Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea
A great High Priest whose name is love
Who ever lives and pleads for me
My name is graven on His hands
My name is written on His heart
I know that while in heav’n He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart
No tongue can bid me thence depart
