1 Corinthians 15.4
[4] … that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures
It is the resurrection which makes the gospel totally different from every other religion. “I was dead, and behold I am alive for evermore” (Rev. 1.18). If the Messiah’s death was somewhat hidden in the Old Testament, his resurrection is even less obvious. Yet after the event his followers could look back and see it in Scripture, as Peter did when he quoted Psalm 16 on the day of Pentecost: “You will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay.” Jesus himself hinted at this when he referred to Jonah’s three days in the fish (Matthew 12.40). It was the resurrection which transformed the scared disciples into bold witnesses. Without the resurrection, there would be no Christian faith. [17] And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile. …[20] But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead.
Christ is risen! We worship you our LIVING Lord!
