Galatians 3:26-27 NIV
26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female…
Neither Jew nor Gentile, slave nor free, male nor female? Obviously we need to read on as on its own, this statement is a clear lie. We are surrounded by people who are different from us – you only need to think of the array of faces on our church Zoom gatherings to see this, an expression of God’s wonderful creativity. But left to our own devices, these differences become ‘us and them’, they pull us apart. Something, or someone, is needed to hold us together – more of that tomorrow. But for today, let’s celebrate the rich array of backgrounds, cultures, personalities, jobs, and genetic make ups that comprise the wonderful tapestry of the human race.
Bring to mind the different people in your family, your neighbourhood, your work and yes, our church. Notice how they are all unique, what makes each special? Give thanks to our creative God for each of them.
