Luke 7.34
The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’
Jesus never turned down an invitation to a meal or a party, even though people criticised him for it. He was pleased whenever people had something to celebrate. Perhaps the news over recent weeks, with the start of vaccination against covid, has given us some optimism, and the end of the pandemic is on the horizon, even if there is a deep ravine to cross first.
This Christmas we may not yet be able to celebrate in the way we would like to. But, as we spend today in our own families, let us rejoice that the Saviour has come to us. That is really something to celebrate: – a remedy for sin is even better news than a remedy for coronavirus! Thank-you Lord Jesus!
