Matthew 5:14-16 NIV
[14] “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. [15] Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. [16] In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Wait a minute……did he say “you are the light of the world”? John 8 clearly says he is the light of the world so how does that work? Does it mean that people see in us…..in me…..the light that shines in Jesus? I think it must and that is an awesome responsibility and privilege – and all we have to do is to “let your light shine”… not manufacture it or pretend but to allow Jesus to shine because he is the true light and the best I can be is a candle holder.
Lord, let me shine for you today and to see your light shine into the lives of others so that they come to love you.
