Psalm 50:10-11 NIV
10 for every animal of the forest is mine,
and the cattle on a thousand hills.
11 I know every bird in the mountains,
and the insects in the fields are mine.
The swans on the photo which goes with this are a group of signets taking a flying lesson that we’ve ‘adopted’ this year. We’ve been following their family for a number of years now, and most week’s we’ll wander down to the River Lea to see them, taking some swan food with us (proper water fowl food, not bread which just encourages rats and fills birds stomachs with little nutritional value). We’ve grown very attached to them, and they’ve got to know us and come over to us when we visit. Our relationship with these swans is a small reflection of the love that God has for the inhabitants of the earth, which we can see in these two short verses. this is not just a census of creature he owns, but a recollection of each individual and the delight he has in them.
Teach us Father to love this world more, just as you do.
