Reflections on God’s Mother Love
After celebrating Mothering Sunday on Sunday, this week our reflections come from scriptures that portray God’s ‘mother love’.

Psalm 131:1-3
1 My heart is not proud, Lord,
my eyes are not haughty;
I do not concern myself with great matters
or things too wonderful for me.
2 But I have calmed and quieted myself,
I am like a weaned child with its mother;
like a weaned child I am content.
3 Israel, put your hope in the Lord
both now and forevermore.

I remember when our children were little. If they were stressed or crying, if you picked them up so often that would calm them – until you tried to put them down again, that is! We can know something similar when we discover God’s love and the sense that no matter what is going on around us, we can know that things will be ok because he is with us.

You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.
– St. Augustine of Hippo
