Luke 24:37-39 (13.04.21)

Luke 24:37-39
37 They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38 He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39 Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”

Every time I read this, I am struck by the sense that Jesus wants us to know his tangible presence, he wants us to know that he is with us. For the disciples, the risen Jesus was able to meet them himself before his ascension. For us he gives us the gift of his Spirit to live and work within us. He is no ‘ghost’, a fleeting impression, or idea, or lie. He is real, he is true, he is for us.

Father, thank you for this amazing gift! Help us to discover your presence today in your Spirit, to experience you throughout the day, whatever we’re doing, wherever we are.
