1 Samuel 15:22-23
22 But Samuel replied:
“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
as much as in obeying the Lord?
To obey is better than sacrifice,
and to heed is better than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is like the sin of divination,
and arrogance like the evil of idolatry.
Because you have rejected the word of the Lord,
he has rejected you as king.”
So often we see worship as being what we do on a Sunday, singing songs of praise, praying and reflecting on God’s word. It is, but it is so much more than just that. If we don’t back up this worship with the worship of obedient lives of service, then our songs become meaningless. Saying I love you with words is meaningless if we don’t also show it with our actions.
May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart
Bless Your name, bless Your name, Jesus
And the deeds of the day and the truth in my ways
Speak of You, speak of You, Jesus
