Galatians 5:22-26
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
On my shelf are many books grappling with theology, exploring the nature and being of God, reflection that will never end, such is the majesty of God! But sometimes we can over complicate things. What is God like? God is loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle and self-controlled, all qualities vital for forging and sustaining relationships and community. Through these he has made and called to himself a world in all it’s glory, a family to be his own, a kingdom. If that is who God is and what he’s like, then I can think of no better thing than to try and live like that too, living in such a way as to promote relationships, between us and him, with each other and with the world he has given us to care for.
Spirit, guide our hands, feet, tongue, heart and mind so that we can keep in step with you.
