1 John 3:9-10
9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. 10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.
A seed planted in the ground comes to life and gradually grows to become a mature plant, and so it is with us. God has planting his seed in us, which grows within us as we develop in our faith becoming a mature child of God, living the life that he has called us to. And this is the best proof of our faith. An argument will rarely win someone for God, but if tell the story of our experiences of God, humbly but passionately, and back that up with a life that looks God-like, then this will have an impact (although note, both are needed – a good life on its own doesn’t suffice, and a great story which isn’t backed up by a life that suggests it is true, certainly won’t).
Take a moment to give thanks to God for taking us as his children and to invite the Spirit to work his transforming work in your life.
