Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

1 John 5:1-5 (20.12.21)

1 John 5:1-5
1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. 4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

As we celebrate Christmas in the coming days, lets remember the significance of the baby whose birth it is. Jesus, although a baby just as we all were, he is also God’s Christ, his chosen leader, through whom he will put all things right and bring us back into relationship with our heavenly Father. He is not just a baby as we were, but also God’s Son. If we place our faith in him, the God will make us his children, and through his Spirit, grow our love of him, our willingness to follow his command to love others, and overcome that which stands between us and following God’s ways.

Jesus, we believe you are the Christ, and pledge ourselves to do our best to follow you.
