Romans 15:8-9 (MSG)
Jesus, staying true to God’s purposes, reached out in a special way to the Jewish insiders so that the old ancestral promises would come true for them. As a result, the non-Jewish outsiders have been able to experience mercy and to show appreciation to God. Just think of all the Scriptures that will come true in what we do!…
Recently we visited the Natural History Museum at Tring, a vast collection of animals (either fossils or preserved). It is quite a display with some fascinating, wired and wonderful specimens! A significant aspect of the work there is to show which animals are related to each other trough being part of the same family, as thins can be helpful in understanding their needs and behaviour. As humans we tend to do the same to each other, putting people into different groups to help us understand where they and we stand. As Christians we tend to too. We think about the different denominations people belong to, or the different ways in which they worship. Perhaps the most fundamental grouping we use is labelling some as religious people, believers, those that are part of God’s family, and the non-religious, non-believers, those that who are not. Through Jesus’ welcoming nature, God smashes through these labels, enabling all to experience a relationship with him.
Thank you Jesus for all that I have received through your welcome. Help me to extend this to others.
