Psalm 22:1-2 (NIVUK)
1 My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so far from saving me,
so far from my cries of anguish?
2 My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer,
by night, but I find no rest.
These are the words Jesus cried from the cross, terrible words of abandonment. That was Good Friday. But on Easter Sunday, God raised him from the dead, vindicating Jesus’ ministry, and showing that although in that terrible moment Jesus may have felt utterly alone, his Father had not abandoned him. This gives us hope for those times when we feel alone, regardless of what we feel, the resurrection tells us God is always with us.
Help me Lord, to hold onto these words in difficult times, and to find ways to offer true encouragement to those who feel alone.
