Romans 12:1-2 (24.05.22)

Romans 12:1-2 (NIVUK)
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.

If yesterday’s passage about God renewing our strength is the most famous passage about renewal in the Old Testament, today’s is probably the most famous in the New. If Isaiah talked about us soaring with our renewed strength, Paul, in Romans, what’s us to see with that birds eye view, to see ourselves and the world as God sees us, a different perspective than our own limited and self-centred one. Only as we see the world and ourselves as he does can we really understand and grasp his will.

Help us to see as you do, Lord, and to respond to what you show us.
