Philippians 4:5-7 (NIVUK)
5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Not only is thanksgiving an antidote for cynicism and pessimism, it’s also an antidote for anxiety. It’s not that as Christians we shouldn’t be anxious, but when we feel anxious we can bring our concerns to God and ask him to help, with thanksgiving knowing that he cares for us and is attentive to our needs.
What are you anxious about? Ask God for help with gratitude, knowing that he is with and for us.
