Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

Hebrews 7:23-25 (29.09.22)

Hebrews 7:23-25 (NIVUK)
23 Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office; 24 but because Jesus lives for ever, he has a permanent priesthood. 25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.

Each week I draw up a to-do list for the week. I inevitably find that by the time I get to the end of the week there are still jobs on it – often more than I had at the start of the week. How does that happen?! There’s never enough time to get it all done. It was the same for the priests who stood between us and God, whose job was to bring us together, there was not enough time to achieve it, to put it bluntly, they ran out of life… But with Jesus, this is not the case! As he lives for ever, his work can continue until it is finished – he has saved us, is saving us and will save us.

Jesus, thank you that you are speaking before God on our behalf, even now, and will not stop until you have finished the work you have started for and in us.
