Revelation 2216-17 (NIVUK)
16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”
17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
As we’ve followed the theme of stars from God’s covenant with Abram this week, it seems fitting to end with this passage in Revelation where Jesus describes himself as the Morning Star, the bright star that ushers in the dawn (probably what we’d recognise now as the planet Venus), the one who brings us hope in the darkness, and the one who gives us life
Jesus, we come to you, our star, grateful for the gift you offer.
