Genesis 18:1 (NIVUK)
The LORD appeared to Abraham near the great trees of Mamre while he was sitting at the entrance to his tent in the heat of the day.
Stop and think about the significance of this opening sentence. God is the Lord of the heavens and earth, sovereign over all. Most rulers will summon you to see them. God is regularly portrayed very differently in the Bible. Rather than summoning us, he comes and meets us where we are – even in our tents in Mamre and flats in Wormley!
Thank you Father that you meet us where we are. You are welcome here, at school, at work, with our friends and families, and in the shops. Wherever we are, you are welcome.
