Serving Jesus in Our Community

Bible Notes

2 Timothy 4:1-2 (04.11.22)

2 Timothy 4:1-2 (NIVUK)
1 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2 preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage – with great patience and careful instruction.

Timothy was a young pastor. Here Paul encourages him to be faithful in his work when it’s going well and people are responsive to him, and when it isn’t. Whatever the season, he is to press on with the work God has given him. We might not all be pastors, God has given us different tasks from being bin men, to midwives, to teachers, Drop-In leaders and family carers. The best way we can respond to God’s grace and love, is to seek to be consistent in working for him in the tasks he has given us, no matter what the season.

Father, great is your faithfulness! Spirit, help us to be faithful in return.
