Ezekiel 37:7-8 (NIVUK)
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. 8 I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.
This story reminds me of what happens whenever God’s Word is shared – when the Bible is read, a sermon is preached, prophecy given etc. Through listening, we are helped to see (or others are helped to see) the world in a new way, how it really is, how God sees it. But words are just words, we can’t brandish them like some spell, imagining we have the power. It takes God to move through his Spirit to bring this to life – he is the one with power and control.
…‘“Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,”
who was, and is, and is to come.’
…‘You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honour and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.’
(Rev. 4:8,11)
