Genesis 21:6-7 NIVUK
6 Sarah said, ‘God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me.’ 7 And she added, ‘Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.’
The Bible is full of theology and advice about living with struggling; you could say that the central message of the Bible is God dealing with the pain and hurt caused by human brokenness. The whole of the Old Testament builds up to Jesus the Messiah and God’s Son entering into our suffering on our behalf. But it’s not about suffering, to say so would be to miss the point. It’s all about God acting to restore the joy and peace and laughter of the good world that he created, the world we see made in Genesis 1 and restored in the closing chapters of Revelation. Laughter and joy is at the heart of God.
Thank you Father for the gift of laughter. Help us embrace, enjoy and spread the your joy.
