Be Thou My Vision – Verse 2:
Be Thou my wisdom, be Thou my true word,
Be Thou ever with me, and I with Thee, Lord;
Be Thou my great Father, and I Thy true son;
Be Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
The second verse of Be Thou My Vision couples wisdom and our relationship with God as Father. Most people would see wisdom as being something we have to learn through lessons or reading or experience, we need to be taught it. The Bible gives a different picture. Wisdom, it says, grows out of a relationship with God and a recognition of who he is and where we stand before him – thankfully in a place of grace through Christ. Take Proverbs 9:10 for example:
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
