Galatians 3:7-9 (27.02.23)

Galatians 3:7-9 (NIVUK)
7 Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham. 8 Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: ‘All nations will be blessed through you.’ 9 So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.

On Sunday we thought about how Abraham only saw the small beginnings of God answering his promise of a land and a great family/nation that would bless the world, he saw the birth of his son Isaac and bought a patch of land in Canaan in which to bury his wife Sarah (see Genesis 23). All this despite living what we would see as an extraordinarily long life waiting for God. Does this mean his wait and his faith were in vain? No! Through this small start God fashioned for himself a people and a land, and through these another son, Jesus, the Christ, and through him came the chance for all people to be brought into God’s family, and the eventual restoration of creation. If only Abraham could have seen then what God was going to grow from his faith and patience. When God makes a promise, he keeps it, and often beyond our expectation.

Help me to see glimpses of you working your purposes out, and to have the imagination to perceive what these glimpses may become!
