Genesis 24:7 (NIVUK)
7 “The Lord, the God of heaven, who brought me out of my father’s household and my native land and who spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying, ‘To your offspring I will give this land’—he will send his angel before you so that you can get a wife for my son from there.
Let’s be honest, Abraham wasn’t always a great example of living life God’s way. He got himself into all kinds of scrapes and troubles because he tried to manipulate events and people, and do things his way. This verse, however, shows that underneath it all, Abraham lived a life of faith. God had made a promise to him, and he lived out his life as if that promise would come true – he had faith that God would prove himself faithful.
What has God promised you? What would it look like if you were to live today as if that promise was certain to come true?
Lord, help me to base my actions and thoughts today upon you.
